Organon of Medicine and Chronic Diseases are the core areas of Homoeopathy and the department is justifying itself by its multifarious activities which helps in enhancing the academic standards of the Institute besides being involved in the routine activities. It is also strong in History of Medicine. The Department provides students of undergraduate course and post graduate trainees with a strong foundation in this pivotal subject which gives the philosophical support and is the backbone of this system and also develop intellectual and analytical skills that the student may take with them into their professional life. Sharing ideas and critiquing each other work ultimately enables everyone in the department to grow.
This department has many placements in UPSC and in different State Government Services to its credit besides producing many successful teachers and physicians.
The secret of this success is that best candidates seek admission in post graduate training after selection from all over the country as well as through nomination of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) countries. There are nine seats in the Post Graduate department.
The department organises interactive academic activities on daily basis which includes seminars, journal clubs and case presentation sessions, didactic classes, etc. The students share, discuss their works in these and post graduate trainees regularly prepare presentations that develop their skills in research and writing. The interns are also involved in these discussions. The post graduate trainees participate in teaching at BHMS level which improves their efficiency for career as academics. Unique culture of this department encourages hard work and collaborative effort. The Department is also involved in regular sports activities.
Faculty members of the department regularly attend and make presentations at both national and international level seminars, publish articles besides fulfilling their regular academic responsibilities of teaching and patient care. They discuss and explain clinical cases to the students of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in outdoor and indoor patient department to increase the clinical acumen of the students. The faculty members also act as paper setters, moderators and examiners in examinations of various universities.
